The EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) is a management tool that companies and other organisations can use to evaluate report on and improve their environmental performance. The scheme has been available for companies to participate in since 1995, and has been growing in uptake as more and more organisations look to improve their environmental performance.
Each year, an award is presented to EMAS registered organisations for outstanding achievements in one particular aspect of environmental management. This year, Jacqueline McGlade, Executive Director of the European Environment Agency, chaired the jury of experts. For the award ceremony, an Eye on Earth map application was created to show the EMAS registered organisations.
You can view the interactive map by clicking on the image.
